Artist Statement
"The confession about someone who only cleans the part of their house that the neighbours can see both made me laugh and broke my heart. It made me think of all the people living alone right now. I'm lucky to have spent this... odd moment in excellent company and, while I like my quiet time, I think there must be an inexplicable loneliness for some who are flying solo at home these days.
I chose to write a song about someone living alone, coveting the quarantine circumstances of a neighbour who lives across the street. Maybe this song is sung sitting at the window - a quiet wish to trade places with someone else. I pictured a house on Palmerston Avenue South.
Please note that I do not play the piano and I'm highly allergic to the house where I'm staying, so thanks for baring with me!
