Artist Statement

"This has been a wonderful and challenging opportunity to create and I am incredibly grateful for it. With everything going on, I don't think I would have pushed myself to... create something, anything, this week. And learning that I can do it, under even conditions like these, makes me hopeful for the weeks to come.

I was struck by the idea of [meantime] in life, based off o a COVID Confession and so chose to spend time meditating on that in every day life. But of course, with everything that I wrote, the context of what is happening was there, and I felt its impact throughout. It has started me on a journey and I look forward to seeing where it takes me.

The first thing that I wrote this week in relation to this was:

I want to give you something beautiful
I want to make you something beautiful
I want to have used this gift, your gift, to make you something magical and awe-inspiring and worthy of being given
To you
I want you to feel joy and kindness and inspiration and love in this gift
I want you to feel fulfilled
I want you to feel like it is worthy
That it was worth it
That I am worthy
That I am an artist
That it is art.
