Artist Statement
I wanted to play with the idea of distance and separation, so I wrote a song which imagines a couple sitting on either side of a door, talking over the phone. We are all... craving the touch and physical presence of others right now, so the idea of two people sitting with a barrier between them but still experiencing the energetic exchange we associate with closeness appeals to me.
I picture it in a condo, where the resident is sitting inside their apartment and their love is on the other side of the door; it's as if they've held their hands up to glass. So it feels like they're touching, even though they can't actually see or feel one other physically.
